Housing Justice is the national face of Christian action on housing need and homelessness. We’ve been working to relieve housing need and homelessness for more than 60 years. Today across England and Wales we co-ordinate a network of 110 grassroots night shelter projects as well as providing direct night shelter provision ourselves. We also run a hosting project in London for destitute asylum seekers without Recourse to Public Funds and a project to develop affordable housing in Wales.

Rough sleeping across England and Wales has increased exponentially of recent years, according to the latest figures, collected in the autumn of 2017 and published in January 2018, 4,751 people are estimated to be sleeping rough on any one night. London is consistently the region in England and Wales with the highest number of rough sleepers with local authorities reporting that a total of 1,137 people sleep rough on any given night.

With funding from the Mayor of London, as part of the Governments Rough Sleeping Initiative aimed to reduce those living on the streets, Housing Justice is facilitating a major project to increase capacity within the network of church and community run night shelter projects in London.

Housing Justice is looking for experienced and committed church and community night shelter experts to join our London Catalyst team. As a Catalyst Worker - London you’ll be central to an ambitious project to increase emergency beds and get rough sleepers off the street in London. You will help top set up new projects, expand existing ones and increase the opportunities for those experiencing homelessness to reach a more settled housing situation.

This is a fixed term contract from August 2018 – April 2019 with the possibility of an extension thereafter, with a starting salary of £31,150 inclusive of London weighting. All applicants must have the right to work in the UK.
