'Rough Sleeping Compassion v Coercion: Church, Community and Goverment responses'

This new Housing Justice Discussion Document aims at bringing to a wider audience the "Killing with kindness" talks series held at Bloomsbury Baptist Church in the Autumn of 2008.

The talks were given by Father Martin McAnany, Chair of Westminster Churches Together Homelessness Task Force; Howard Sinclair, Director of Broadway; Tom Preest, Head of Street Services at LB Camden; Alastair Murray, Regions Coordinator of Housing Justice; and Michael Blight, a resident on the streets.

Rough Sleeping Compassion v Coercion also includes an introduction from Revd Simon Perry of Bloomsbury Baptist Church on why and how the church got involved in resisting the tougher enforcement strategies being adopted in 2008 by the City of London, including the nightly washing down of the doorways where homeless people are sleeping. See Operation Poncho.
