London Marathon

Virgin London Marathon 2013

Marathon Day came and went -
Fast rewind: Marathon Day was great!
All four of our runners completed the 26 miles distance (42 kilometers), with Stephen, our veteran runner, running past the grand stand at the arrival line, looking fresh as a daisy - amazing.

The day kicked off at Greenwich overground station, where the HJ team met with our runners for a last minute briefing, encouragements and a photoshoot.

Once the runners were on their way, the team walked to the Cutty Sark, where the marathon itinerary makes a loop around the beautiful ship.
From the pier we caught a shuttle to Westminster and made our way to Horseguard Parade, between St James Park and Whitehall, and awaited our returning heroes.

On Marathon Day afternoon, Horseguard Parade turns into a very busy meeting place, and in the heat, the dust lifted by thousands of delegates meeting their runners may remind some of a day in Marrakech.

It's all part of the atmosphere - organisation banners and balloons punctuate the huge crowd and everyone is caught up in the afterglow of the race, welcoming their runners, meeting friends, networking.
