Registered Charity and Company limited by guarantee, Royds are a major community led enterprise facilitating renewal and regeneration to deliver sustainable communities both locally and nationally. The Association provides a range of services to meet identified needs of local communities and make a contribution to an improved quality of life for people living in them. Services include: Welfare Benefits and Debt Advice, Environment Programme, Healthy Living, Employment Outreach and Community Development.

Royds was originally an SRB 1 scheme awarded £31 million and funded for 7 years from 1995.

The scheme is and always has been resident led and the Board of Directors, all volunteers are the accountable body. The SRB funding finished in 2002 with all outputs met. Royds was also successful in obtaining SRB 6 funding to build an Enterprise Park. Since then the Association has been successful in obtaining other sources of funding, including Lottery Funding and income from the Enterprise Park along with an increasingly thriving Consultancy.

Royds originally served three council estates in South Bradford with a largely white working class background. Ethnic minority population was less than 1%.

Post SRB Royds works across a larger area of Bradford South and now has an area with diverse communities including of late asylum seekers from across the globe and economic migrants largely from Eastern Europe
