Housing Justice Regenerate Events

Guide Neighbourhoods Network Conference 26 February 2007, Birmingham
A practical one day learning event focused on resident led regeneration.

Practitioners and activists working in community and economic development will be interested to hear about a conference due to take place at Aston Villa Football Club, Birmingham on Monday 26th February 2007.

Unlike many conferences covering similar topics, this day will not be presented by ‘academics’ or so called ‘experts’. Rather it will be led by resident and community groups telling their own stories about how they are transforming local neighbourhoods.

Through case study presentations, site visits and workshops delegates will be able to see how residents have influenced positive change at grass roots level.

Attendees will hear about the significant effects this is having on local economies and how social challenges such as crime, housing and healthcare are being tackled from within.

Topics covered on the day will include:
Neighbourhood Management
Tackling Poverty
The value of churches and buildings of worship in community development
Reducing crime and anti-social behaviour
Rekindling community spirit
Improving environmental services and play facilities
Tackling poor health through Parish Nurse Projects
Developing resident led Neighbourhood Intranets
Problem Solving and Partnership Working
Winning contracts for social enterprise
